St. Patrick's Day© Donna Smith
Leprechauns. Four-leaf clovers. Shamrocks. That lucky pot of gold. All signs that St. Patrick's Day is approaching. This year, plan a party with your child. For younger children, it is a great way to introduce the color green, and older children will enjoy an excuse to get together with their friends. Here are a few recipes to serve at your St. Patrick's Day bash!
From Recipes Today
1 can (17 ounces) fruit cocktail Drain the fruit cocktail, mandarin oranges, and pineapple into a bowl. Reserve 1½ cups of the juice. Pour the juice into a bowl, and mix in the pudding mixes and sour cream until smooth. Add the whipped topping and nuts. Fold in the fruit. Chill at least one hour before serving.
Lime Punch 1 (3 ounce) package lime-flavored gelatin Combine the gelatin, sugar and boiling water. Stir until the sugar dissolves. Add the lemon juice, pineapple juice, orange juice and food coloring. Cover and chill. When ready to serve, stir in ginger ale. Leprechaun Logs
1 package white candy coating (almond bark) Melt the candy coating in a microwave until smooth. Dip the pretzel into the chocolate and, with a spoon, coat about 3/4s of the pretzel with the chocolate. Sprinkle with the green sprinkles and place on waxed paper. Let dry completely, about one hour, then gently peel up. Other Ideas Bake cupcakes and frost them with vanilla frosting you have added a green food coloring to. Sugar cookies can also be decorated in the same way. Why not set up a cookie decorating station at the party? Give each child a plain sugar cookie and let them decorate it with icing, green sprinkles, green M&Ms, etc. This is not only delicious, but will keep them entertained. Go To Page: 1
