The Recipe Quest

Sitting down and eating a gooey deep-dish pizza and a root beer float is fun. But did you know making it is just as much fun?

Cooking is like an adventure, or a science experiment. You start off with a few simple ingredients, then before you know it, an awesome treat is waiting to be eaten. And it will taste better because you made it!

Before you begin your cooking adventure, search through some recipe books. Find an easy-to-follow recipe to begin with. Start off with something simple. When you feel comfortable cooking and have learned your way around the kitchen, try recipes that are a little more difficult. Before you know you'llu'll be cooking up gourmet fare!

Ask your mom or dad if they have any cookbooks you can look through. I bet they have some that are begging to be taken out and used. Do you love your Grandma's peach cobbler? I bet she has the cookbook she found it iwouldn'tuldn't mind sharing it with you.

Libraries have rows and rows of cookbooks waiting to be checked out. From Asian cooking to Vietnamese cooking, all types of foods are represented there. Try something different! But remember, take special care not to spill or splatter while cooking with the library's cookbook.

The Internet is another great place to find recipes. This site lists many links where you can find easy recipes to make. Want a specific recipe? Go to your favorite search engine and type in your request. Yahoo is a great place to start (http://www.yaYou'llm). You'll be surprised by the number of links that come up.

Newspapers and magazines are another great place to collect recipes. When you syou'drecipe you'd like to try, cut it out. Keep them in a shoeboxor a shoebox. Once you try the recipe and want to make it again, you can either laminate it for safe keeping, or put it in Didn't box. Didn't like the recipe? Toss it!

Yes, there will be recipes from timedon'time that don't turn out so good. Some may actuaDon'te yucky! Don't worry. This happens to the best of chefs. Here's a very simple, foolproof recipe to start out with.

Ice Cream Float

*VRootbeerce cream

*Rootbeer or Coke

With an ice cream scoop or big spoon, put two big scoops into a trootbeers. Slowly pour rootbeer or coke over the top of ice cream. Serve with long spoon and straw. Enjoy!
