Recipes for Children: Fun, Easy and Healthy Snacks

It's always a challenge to get little ones to eat healthy snacks. Here are some fun, easy and delicious recipe ideas for children.

Bird Seed Snack


Ingredients:
  • 1 cup Cheerios
  • 3/4 cup chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup butterscotch chips
  • 3/4 cup peanut butter chips
  • 1 cup M & M's of your choice
  • 1/2 cup dark raisins
  • 1/2 cup golden raisins
  • Mixed nuts (optional)
What to do: Pour all ingredients into a large bowl. Mix well with clean hands. Serve. Store unused portion in an airtight container.

Owl Snack


Ingredients:
  • 1 tablespoon creamy peanut butter
  • 1 rice cake
  • 2 slices banana
  • 2 raisins
  • 6 Apple Jacks
  • 1 triangle cut from a cheese slice 
What to do: Spread peanut butter on rice cake. Place banana slices for eyes and add raisins for pupils. Place 3 Apple Jacks above the eyes for eyebrows. Slip triangle of cheese under banana slices to make the beak.

Astronaut Pudding

When astronauts are in space, they don't use eating utensils. Now you can enjoy pudding and eat it just like the astronauts do.

Ingredients:
  • 1 pudding mix, flavor of your choice
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 zip lock bag
What to do: Put 1 tablespoon of the pudding mix into the zip lock bag. Add 1/4 cup of milk, making sure not to spill it. Squish bag to mix well. Poke a hole in the bag and suck the pudding out.

Apple Smoothie


Ingredients:
  • 1 apple
  • 1 banana
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 3 or 4 ice cubes
What to do: Peel and core the apple. Peel the banana. Put the fruit, the milk and the ice cubes into the blender. Blend well. Serve.
