Yummy Breakfast Recipes

Are you tired of eating cereal for breakfast? Do you sometimes skip breakfast because you are tired of the same old thing? Today, I am here to share a couple of recipes that will brighten your mornings. First though, I need to explain why breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

I know you've heard it all before - probably a hundred times, but it is true. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Researchers have found that kids who eat breakfast do much better in school than those who don't. Breakfast is the fuel that keeps us alert throughout the morning. It feeds both our brain and our bodies. If we don't eat breakfast, our brain and bodies run out of fuel. That causes us to be less alert, tired and cranky. When our brain is low on fuel, it doesn't take in information properly and we can't listen properly. Skipping breakfast on a regular basis can also cause obesity (being overweight,) diabetes and other health related problems.

Now for the good news. There are many delicious things that we can eat for breakfast. Here a two recipes that will make your mouth water.

Banana Ice Cream Pancakes

What you will need:

icing sugar (also known as confectioner's sugar)

11/4 cups of reduced fat/no sugar banana ice cream.

1 egg

1 banana

fresh fruit of your choice (apple, banana, blueberries, strawberries, cherries etc.)

1 cup original pancake mix

1 teaspoon of olive oil

What to do:

Put the teaspoon of olive oil in a frying pan or skillet on medium heat.

Mix banana, egg and ice cream in a blender and blend until smooth.

Add pancake mix to the blender. Blend well.

Pour mixture into the pan to make pancakes. When done, put on plate and sprinkle with icing sugar. Add the fresh fruit of your choice. Mmm!

Fruit and Oatmeal Smoothie

What you will need:

1 cup fruit juice of your choice

1 cup frozen yogurt of your choice

1 cup plain or fruit flavored yogurt

3 tablespoons of oatmeal (uncooked)

1 cup of ice

What to do:

Put all ingredients into a blender. Blend well. Pour into glass, add straw and place a slice of orange over the lip of the glass. Place a cherry in the glass for decoration.

Serve the smoothie with your favorite muffin, bagel or with toast. Delicious.
