If you are going to make this an on-going garden, you may consider using perennials or a mixture of annuals and perennials. Perennials I found at Burpee include Achillea 'Summer Wine', Eupatorium 'Chocolate', Heuchera 'Plum Pudding' and 'Chocolate Ruffles', and Pulmonaria 'Raspberry Splash'. Harris Seeds offers Lily 'Lollypop' and Pine Tree Garden Seeds has Rudbeckia 'Marmalade', Chocolate Mint, and phlox 'Candy Stripe'. Thompson and Morgan offers Verbascum 'Banana Custard' and Shepherd Seeds has Bleeding Hearts. Bluestone Perennials has Dianthus 'Peppermint Patty' and Perennial Candytuft. Other perennials I have know of (thanks to some friends), but didn't see in these catalogs are Siberian Iris 'Butter and Sugar', Cosmos 'Chocolate', Eupatorium Rugosum 'Chocolate', Hosta 'Lemon lime', Astilbe 'Sprite', Coral Bells 'Mint Frost', and Peony 'Raspberry Sundae'.

I'm sure there are more as well, so look through your neighborhood garden center, your garden catalogs, your own gardens, and ask your friends (you might even get a division of their plants).

I hope you have a wonderful St. Valentine's Day! Enjoy your friends and loved ones and consider growing a Sweet Heart Garden. Take care!
