Perennials of interest include Peonies, Hostas, Daylilies, Butterfly Bush, Japanese Lilies, Blackberry Lilies, Tiger Lilies, Begonias, Bleeding Hearts, Balloon Flowers, Saxifrage, Jasmine, Yarrow, Chinese Hibiscus, Heartleaf Bergenia, Chinese Chives (Garlic Chives), Ladybells (Adenphora Confusa), Lotus, and more. Some annuals include China Asters, China Pinks, and Chinese Forget-Me-Nots. Vines include Chinese Wisteria, Five-Leafed Akebia, Bower Actinidia, Creeping Fig, and Crimson Glory Vine. There are more, I'm certain. If you know of any, let me know and I'll add them.

Chinese vegetables will give you an actual "taste" of China. Maybe you could find some Chinese recipes to try them in as well. The Chinese like many "baby" (immature) vegetables such as baby corn, carrots, bean sprouts, bamboo shoots, and more. They also grow snow peas, Chinese Cabbage, Mung beans, black beans, onions, garlic and more.
