Learning the Letter C

QUOTES- The most important thing that parents can teach their children is how to get along without them. Frank A. Clark

CRAFTS-

Cookie Jar. The best idea that I came up with for my kids was our cookie jar. We made pretend cookies out of cardboard. (You could use construction paper, but don't expect it to last long.) On one side color the cookie as chocolate chip or sugar with sprinkles. On the other side, glue pictures that start with the letter that you are working on. Have each kid pick a cookie and go over the word on the cookie. Really great idea for kids that are learning to talk.

Candle. Use toilet paper rolls for the candle. Paint the tube and then stuff red, yellow, or orange tissue paper in the tube for a flame. Glue a strip of construction paper around the base for candle holders. Glue the tube to a small paper plate that you can paint or decorate. Clock. Make clocks with paper plates attached to construction paper hands with brads. Decorate the plate to match the kids room decor. Hang in their room. I use it as a timer.

Carrot. Paint with carrots. Cut carrots in 2-3" pieces. Use like a rubber stamp. Dip in orange paint and print to make a C.

Car. Have the kids cut out pictures of cars and make a collage with them.

Cat. Trace a shape of a cat on paper and let the kids color it in.

Clover. Pick some clover on a walk through your yard or at the park. Glue the clover on a big C from paper.

Clown. Paint clown faces on the kids and then take pictures of the kids.

Clothesline Art. Put a clothesline up in the living room and hang the kids art work up on the line. We had a family party where the kids in the family brought their best pictures, we hung them up, and the kids held an auction for their work.

Cold. Glue pictures of hot and cold foods on index cards. Kids sort into hot and cold categories.

Catepillars. Cut out different color construction paper circles. Glue them in a line and add eyes and antannae.

Clown Bank. Tape a round piece of cardboard to each end of a paper towel tube. Cut a slot for the mouth to put the coins through. Paint the tube white. Glue yarn hair and clown features cut from paper.
