Learning the Letter ALearning the alphabet is a milestone in a child's education. The purpose of this topic is to make learning fun. So, here is my humble attempt to help you teach your kids the alphabet. I know these crafts have helped my kids keep their attention on the letters. I'm going to try to go through the whole alphabet. If you have any suggestions, I welcome them in the discussion area. QUOTES- Healthy parenting is nothing if not a process of empowerment. As we help to raise our children's self esteem, we also increase their personal power. When we encourage them to be confident, self-reliant, self-directed, and responsible individuals, we are giving them power. - Louise Hart CRAFTS- For a cheap stamping craft, cut an apple in half. Carve "A" in one of the flat sides and "a" in the other. Dip the apple in paint and stamp away. As they stamp the letter, have them say the letter. Have your angel make an angel. Cut a large white triangle for the body and a skin-colored circle for a face. Trace the child's hand and cut them out for wings. Glue all the pieces together and add your unique facial features. If you have a gold or silver pipe cleaner for a halo, the better. You could also just color a halo. How about making your own book? An A book. Staple several pieces of white construction paper together with a colored construction paper cover. Write "My A Book" and the child's name on the cover. Cut magazine pictures that start with the letter plus upper and lowercase "a"s. Let the kids decide what pictures and letters they glue onto the pages. For older kids, have them write what the picture is under it. Make an airplane. You'll need two paper towel rolls and craft sticks (or popsicle sticks). Take one of the paper towel rolls and measure about three inches down from the top and cut halfway through. Measure another two inches down and cut halfway again. Remove the section between the two cuts. Glue the second paper towel roll through this section. Paint the airplane. Form an "x" with two craft sticks and glue together. Paint white when glue is dry. Glue the sticks to the front for a propeller. Break another craft stick in half and insert them into the tube under the wings for landing gear. Make some ants. Use three sections of a cardboard egg carton to form the body. Paint your ant. With pipe cleaners, make antennae on the first section. Put four pipe cleaner legs on each of the back two sections. Glue on wiggly eyes or draw eyes.
