Halloween Part 3

OK everyone, are we ready for week 3? Here are some great new ideas for costumes crafts, games, cooking, and web sites.

QUOTE-

There's only one pretty child in the world and every mother has it. -American Proverb

COSTUMES-

Pizza- Cut out 2 circles from a large cardboard box and make it as big as you can. Decorate one circle as a pizza. Leave the other piece plain to be the crust. Punch 2 holes along 1 edge of each of the cardboard circles the same distance apart. Thread some thin elastic through the holes to attach the 2 cardboard circles together. Leave a big enough opening between the 2 pieces so you can slip the pizza over child's head. The elastic should rest on child's shoulders. Tie a knot in the elastic to secure.

Old Man or Old Woman- Find old fashioned looking clothing. Use glasses, large purse, big beaded jewelry, a cane, and baby powder in hair to make it look gray. Walk slow and stooped over. (Please, no angry emails if this offends you.)

Princess- Make a tiara out of pipe cleaner and beads and wear a fancy dress.

Pumpkin- Start with an orange sweatsuit. Make a face on suit with black fabric paint. Make a hat by painting a toilet paper roll brown and add a few green felt or construction paper leaves. Punch 2 holes across from each other on 1 edge of toilet paper roll. Cut a piece of elastic that will be long enough to tie in 1 of the holes you punched. Wrap around chin snugly, then tie into the other hole you punched. Tie securely.

CRAFTS-

Footprint Ghosts- Paint child's foot white and print it on black construction paper. Dry. Add face.

Masks- Buy plastic half-face masks and give to each child. Decorate with feathers, stickers, or gems.

Halloween Votive- Soak labels off baby food jars. Each kid cuts orange or black tissue paper and glues it onto the jar with a paint brush. With a permanent marker, add child's name and date to the bottom. Add a votive.

Mini Jack O' Lanterns- You'll need mini pumpkins, glue, buttons, yarn, cotton balls, black paper witch hat: Kids glue items onto the pumpkins to make a witch pumpkin or anything of their own design.

Pumpkin Patch- Shake cotton balls and dry orange tempera paint in ziplock bag. Glue green yarn (vines) and orange cotton balls (pumpkins) to brown construction paper.

Witch Face- Cut out the center of a paper plate. Glue yarn on both sides of the plate. Glue a black paper hat on top. Glue a yellow paper buckle on hat. Punch a hole on both sides of the plate. Tie string through holes. Tie mask on child.
