You look outside to see the sun shining and the fluffy clouds meandering across the sky. Spring is trying to show itself little by little. However, now you are doomed with the dilemma of the kids getting restless and wanting activities for the outside... since who wants to stay inside during these days. Well... look no further. I have listed below some fun and easy crafts, activities, and projects kids of all ages can do with little supplies. Some of the activities may need adult help and/or supervision. Enjoy the warmer weather and have some fun!

Colored Celery

What you will need: Celery stalks A jar Food coloring Water

Put desired amount of food coloring into the water and then put the stalks in the jar. Let set overnight. When the kids see the stalks the next day... they will notice that the veins in the celery stalk has turned color. You can explain to them the reason of this being that the stalk needs nourishment and it drank the water and colored the veins "insides" of the celery stalk.

Eggshell Mosaic

This activity uses the remains of Easter eggs... meaning the shells.

You will need: Eggshells (colored) Construction paper Crayons, pens, and/or markers Glue

On the paper... have the kids make a design. Then spread a thin layer of the glue in the area that the design is in. Place the eggshells onto the glue over the design area. Let dry and then hang up!

Paper Mache Eggs

You will need:

Paper mache paste Balloon Tape 1-inch pieces newspaper or paper toweling Pie tin Paint brushes Colored tissue paper (optional) Shellac

Paper Mache recipe

1 cup water Mix in 1/4-cup flour until thin and runny

Stir mixture above into 5 cups lightly boiling water. Gently boil for 2-3 minutes and then cool until you can dip paper into the mixture without burning yourself.

Eggs:

Make paper mixture paste above. When cool, pour into pie tin. Blow up a balloon and tape to a table. Dip the strips of newspaper or paper toweling into the paste and then place it carefully on the balloon. Continue placing the pieces and overlap. Cover the balloon completely and then let it dry. It may take overnight to dry completely. Once dry... you can use all sorts of colored markers or paint to decorate... and you can also put colored tissue on it as well. Finish with shellac
