Mother's Day for kids

Mother's Day is just around the corner so I thought that this week I would salute mothers everywhere and point you towards some sites that will help you make this Mother's Day memorable.

You shouldn't ignore your mother the rest of the year but most of us tend to take our mothers for granted. You'd probably make your mother very happy if you were a little nicer to her the rest of the year instead of getting her a big box of chocolates on Mother's Day.

To get you started you can visit A history of Mother's Day from the Houston Chronicle Online. This article includes links to short articles about two of the women who were instrumental in getting Mother's Day recognized in the United States.

Gifts on a Kids Budget gives you some tips on Mother's Day gifts that you can give to your mother without having to break your piggy bank open. If your Mom has email you can send her a free animated Mother's Day card at Bluemountain.com.

If you want to give your Mom a chuckle then just show her the Calvin and Hobbs mother day cartoon on BJ's web page. Please be a little nicer to your Mom than Calvin is.

When you're done checking out these sites be sure to visit Suite101.com celebrates Mother's Day. This page showcases the articles from other editors who have something special for Mother's Day, make sure that your Mom or someone else who's special is with you so they can enjoy them too. I have also set up a special Mother's day java maze for you to solve. Help Mom find her way through the maze so she can make it to school in time to walk you home. If you have some Mothers Day sites you'd like to point us to just add them to the discussion at the bottom of the page.

Don't forget that I'm still collecting your nominations for your favorite java applets. Just add your nominations to the discussion below.

To help entice you to become a member of Suite101.com I have gone through all my old articles and added all the Java games I mentioned in the past year to my links section. There are more than just the five links you see at the righthand side but you need to join Suite101.com to see them. Before you sign up, though, be sure to check that it's OK with either a parent or teacher.

I really want to know what you think about the articles I write and posting to discussions is something you have to be a member to do. So please consider joining today and add the URL of your favorite Java applet to the
