Cool Summer Sites© Wayne Dawe
Sorry for the delay this month. I've been fighting a cold for the last
two weeks and everything in my life was delayed. Enough with that, on
with the sites.
Interest in the Wooly Mammoth is not extinct! Kids can play and learn about the history of the Woolly Mammoth's Ice Age world in the Pleistocene Epoch at Discovery Online. The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World covers not only the seven ancient wonders, but also modern, natural and forgotten wonders. Learner.org has an interesting on-line exhibit call Math in Daily Life. I've recommended Leaner.org before, and now I'm doing it again. Be sure to check out some of their other on-line exhibits. Discovering China has been posted on the Chicago Board of Education Student Zone Site for all teachers and students to use and enjoy. This site was created by students to teach the younger students at their school. For each activity, the students also created off line activities for the younger students to complete. Take a look and let me know what you think. Take a virtual field trip with CARE to the Caribbean island nation of Haiti at: www.care.org/virtual_trip/haiti. Walk through city streets and rural villages in the poorest country of the Western Hemisphere. Learn about the history of this small nation -- from its discovery by Christopher Columbus, to its present day struggles with hunger, unemployment, and community development LetsFindout Kids' Encyclopedia is an online research tool and homework helper from Knowledge Adventure. Covering a wide range of topics especially suited for school projects, it's fun, easy to use, and free. That's it for today but I plan on adding a few more sites over the next few days to make up for my tardiness. Go To Page: 1
