Halloween -- Some spooky sites© Wayne Dawe
(Note: The Internet is a dynamic place and web sites can come and
go quite quickly. This is one of my older articles and most of the links may not
work anymore. My links section has my
favorite Halloween links from past articles and is checked regularly for non
working links. Wayne)
My heart recently sank when I saw the topic for Deborah Jeter's recent article. For those of you who don't know, Deborah (AKA The Lady with the Hat) is the editor of the very popular Music Education area. What had filled me with such dread? Deborah was doing a series of articles on Halloween! A short while ago I wrote an article about musical artists for kids (be sure to check it out if you haven't read it yet). When Deborah read it she wrote me that she had an article on music for kids (check it out if you haven't seen it yet) ready to go. Luckily we didn't overlap on any of our sites. As luck would have it, when I checked Deborah's sites against the ones I was preparing to use, I found that we had only overlapped on one site. My fears were all for nothing and I could happily type away. I'm sure you're sick of my ranting so let's get to some scary sites. A word of caution
Hallmark's Seasons and Reasons page has Halloween history and activity suggestions. Halloween Animation is a neat sites in their own ways and are suitable for all ages. Halloween Haunted House Online Adventure is a haunted house you can explore on-line, but Shockwave is required. Click on the front door to enter. On the day under discussion Halloween WebCam '97 will become active. The final good-for-all-ages site, Indian Knoll's Ghastly Ghouls Ghost House was put together by sixth graders and is a great place to go to get into the Halloween spirit. I'll end with two sites related more to horror than Halloween that may interest the older kids. Haunted Corners of the World Wide Web has a good selection of horror related sites on Go To Page: 1 2
