Magic: Impress and Awe Your Friends

It's starting to get cool where I live. Two weekends ago I went to a fall fair with my kids, we watched some fiddlers and cloggers and saw a small parade. The we had some french fries and headed home. Doesn't sound very exciting but the kids had a great time. Last weekend we went to the open house of a large TV station in a city nearby and it was a zoo. Way too many people, long lineups for everything. All in all I'd recommend the fall fair.

Now on to the real theme of this piece: magic. I have been a enthralled by magic since I was a kid. In grade 7 I put on a magic show as part of a school fund-raiser and everyone had a great time. There are lots of sites on the Web that will gladly sell you magic tricks but I've managed to find a few that let you in on the secrets for free. But before you proceed to any of these sites you must take a solemn oath not to reveal to anyone the secret of the trick. Now on to the fun.

Lance Burton: Master Magician was what inspired me to write this article. Lance had a TV special on a week or so ago and he has a few simple tricks you can learn on his web site.

If card tricks are your area of interest Card Trick Central is the place to go. If you want to learn the really cool tricks then you have to register but the basic tricks that any beginner can use to astound friends are free for all.

Arjun Orhri's is a kid who has a magic trick on his homepage.

The Hat - Online magic tricks has card, illusion and mind tricks you can learn.

Inside Magic bills itself as the online resource and CD-ROM for magician. This site has a few more easy-to-learn tricks to entice the budding magician.
