Sites to tell your teacher about© Wayne Dawe
(Note: The Internet is a dynamic place and web sites can come and
go quite quickly. This is one of my older and some of the links may not
work anymore. If you find that this is the case I invite you to look at
some of my more recent articles. My links section has my
favorite links from past articles and is checked regularly for non
working links. Wayne)
This weekend was our last great beach weekend of the year and while I was there I chanced upon the September Womans Day magazine which has some links to information that kids and their teachers might be interested in. The Jason Project is a program which allows kids (and their teachers) to participate in electronic field trips. A major participant in the project is Dr. Robert Ballard one of the discovers of the Titanic wreckage. As an aside Mediadome: Titanic has video relating to the original Titanic sinking and links to other Titanic sites. Mediadome is a collaboration between CNET and Intel and showcases new multimedia technologies for the World Wide Web and your PC. Mediadome has different "Webisodes" some suitable for children and others aimed at adults and is well worth a look. GLOBE - International Hand On Science and Education is a program where students make environmental measurements in their neighborhoods and report the data via the Internet to scientists who us the data in their research and report back to the students. Koalaty Kids is a program where the processes of continuos improvement that is so popular in business is applied to the education process. Intel has a program that helps explain the inner working of computers to students in grade 5 to 9. Teachers Corner - The Journey Inside Program is available free to qualified teachers. Well I'm a little too sunbaked from my weekend to go on much longer and I expect everyone will be way too busy going back to school to browse the web too much this week so I'll see you all next week. As a last minute addition Phar Lap in the Museum shows how Phar Lap the Australian racehorse was restored at the Museum of Victoria. Kinda neat and interesting. Go To Page: 1
