(Note: The Internet is a dynamic place and web sites can come and go quite quickly. This is one of my older and some of the links may not work anymore. If you find that this is the case I invite you to look at some of my more recent articles. My links section has my favorite links from past articles and is checked regularly for non working links. Well, I'm so relaxed this week that I almost didn't get around to writing this article this week. I just came back from a week at the beach with my kids and we had a great time. No modem, no Internet, just sand and sun.

As promised this week I have a few links for you kids to music you can listen to on the web. Many of the music excerpts require Real Audio (TM) or support for playing wav files. The good news it that most kids' performers have a web site and often have a few samples of songs that you can preview. The bad news is that most sites only provide a short snippet, typically 15 seconds or so for you to listen too. Most of these sites are set up to convince you to buy the music of these performers but generally it's a pretty soft sell.

I originally got the idea for this article about a month ago when Jack Grunsky played at a local park as part of a summer concert series. Jack put on a great show and I thought that exposing him to those who may not have heard his music would be a great idea. Another group of more famous Canadian performers are Sharon, Lois and Bram. You're more likely to have heard of them since they have their own TV show that may have played on your local TV station. The mustard pages at childrensmusic.org has a listing of many kids performers - many of which have sound samples. Unfortunately, most of these are in Real Audio 2.0 format which provides sound quality similar to A.M. radio, Real Audio 3.0 provides much better sound quality but usually requires a 28 Kb or better Internet link. One notable exception to the short snippet excerpt is Lullabies for the Heart and Soul which has two full length lullabies which my 5-year-old liked a lot. Bonnie Phipps has some nice songs you might want to take a listen too as do Judy and David. Kidbiz has songs for kids sung by kids with a message; you may have to careful with these since kids might get turned off by the strong message. As I have stated many
