Games to keep you busy in the car

About a year and a half ago I wrote an article about Games to play in the car and I decided it was time to update this article. I just got back from my summer vacation and didn't have enough things to keep the kids busy on the three-hour car trip.

The first site is Car Games and the second is SafeTraveling.com and the third is Entertainment in the car.

If games aren't your cup of tea, how about Silly Songs we Sing in the Car? Kids in the Car from Shell has a good section on kids safety in the car and some suggestions for games for the car. You can download the booklet in PDF format or Shell will send it to you. Family.com has a good article on games for the car.

Well, I don't want to get back to work too fast, so I'm going to let you send me your favorite car games. As a bit of a teaser I'll have a few more sites for you on Friday. To challenge you a bit, I'll give you three sites for each person who suggests a game. See you on Friday.

Well, now it's Saturday, I'm only one day late but I do have some more suggestions on things to do in the car. Don't neglect the old standby, the magnetic game. You know what I'm talking about - the metal box with a checker board on the outside and magnetic pieces on the inside. The high tech version of this is the laptop computer with the appropriate java games installed on it. Check out my links section for some links to java versions of the classic board games.

If colouring is your kids' bag then I ran across some great books for them. Baronet Books has a series of hardcover kids books called "Great Illustrated Classics." The great thing about this series is that the illustrations are in black and white and are perfect for coloring. You should be able to find them at any reputable bookstore including the online ones.

I'm still waiting for some suggestions from you. See you all next month.
