Diggles and Mites

Do you know what a diggle or mite is?

If you're looking for something to do, pull up your chair and check out these links to find the answer. They'll keep you busy for a while. Okay, I admit these are more government sites and I've added more than diggles or mites, but hey - they're fun and educational at the same time.

For starters, visit this United States Coast Guard site and find some interesting color books to print out, two of them in Spanish. There are also images you can download and a couple of paper models you can download. Go to http://www.uscg.mil/news/Downloads/downl... .

Then, how about some Science for Kids: http://www.ars.usda.gov/is/kids/ - this has lots of stuff to explore. Here are just two places you can go to at this site, but you will spend a lot more time here if you're interested in science:

(1) Want to make a mite photo box: http://www.ars.usda.gov/is/kids/weirdsci... ? Why not make one for a brother or sister who doesn't like bugs. Wouldn't that be fun? Just kidding. Make one for yourself and show it around. You will certainly get people's attention.

(2) Do you know what a diggle is: http://www.ars.usda.gov/is/kids/weirdsci... ? The first kid who tells me what a diggle is in the discussion area gets to decide what I write about next. How fun is that? You tell me what web sites you want to see and I'll try my best to find them for you.

Do you want to learn about the environment in a fun way? Then go here: http://www.epa.gov/kids/ - you'll be at the Environmental Kids Club site. There's a poem and poster contest going on for kids in grades kindergarten through sixth here: http://www.epa.gov/region01/students/poe... . Of course, you'll want to look around at the other things on this site.

Print out some colorful bookmarks for your friends at this site: http://interactive2.usgs.gov/learningweb... - then look around to see what else there is to do. This is the USGS site.

Finally, do you know who our former Presidents were? You can also take a tour of the White House at this site: http://www.whitehouse.gov/history/presid... .

Well, this should keep you busy for a while.

Did you find out what a diggle is? If you're the first to guess and let me know, you get to tell me what you want me to write about next time. I'll be waiting!
