Even more sites to delight

© Wayne Dawe

Another Tuesday has come along and it's time for some more kid fun and friendly sites to explore.

The first site is Xpeditions @nationalgraphic.com. This great site has an atlas of the world, a virtual exhibit hall and lots of other cool geography stuff.

At Robots: ActivMedia Robotics you can watch or even drive a robot across the Web. Netscape version 3 or greater is required, Internet Explorer is not supported. It takes a while to get used to running the robot but once you get the hang of driving it's really neat.

Volcano's Online and Mars are two great sites from the Thinkquest project. I've mentioned Thinkquest before and I'm sure I'll mention it again.

The BC Archives Time Machine is a site offering a glimpse into the history of British Columbia which coincidentally is where the Suite101.com offices are located. The Time Machine site has eleven galleries which have recommended grade levels attached.

If a science fair is something you see in your future then pay a visit to the Rusk High School Library Science Fair project page. Though this site is designed for high school students, some of the resources and ideas would be suitable for students in the later primary grades too.

ExplorA-Pond is a project where students can "Experience a simulated pond, take a virtual tour of an outdoor classroom, Complete pond math and pond science activities, publish your adopted pond on-line, or chat with other K-6 students interested in pond stuff."

Global Access to Educational Sources is a great place to go for homework help. I particularly liked their Egyptian resource page.

I received an nice e-mail from Kids on the Net this week. They are looking for stories from kids and for kids to add to their collection. Why not check them out and let me know what you think?

Well, that's all for now. Be sure to come back next week when scary Halloween sites will be featured for you. If this is your first visit please take a look at some of my past articles or drop in on Kids on Suite101.
