Hurricanes and Tornados

With all the interest in Hurricane Georges this week I thought it would be a good time to look at hurricanes and tornados.

You can find a lot of really up to date hurricane information at Hurricane season '98. This site has up to date satellite images, a listing of the names of possible upcoming hurricane's and information about Ivan, Jeanne and Carl the storms that aren't getting as much press. A really neat picture of hurricane Opal and a guide to the stages of development of a storm from a disturbance to a hurricane are a few other sites that I think you might be interested in. The Miami Museum of Science has an interesting hurricane page as does the University of West Florida.

You may not know it but is also an airplane that is called a hurricane. There is also a fighter plane named after a Tornado. This fighter is built by Daiml er-Benz Aerospace and is used by the German Air Force.

Windows to the Universe is a really great site, they even have instructions on how to create your own tornado. There is lots to see and do at this site, just do a search for tornado and you'll see what I mean. I'm sure you could be busy until next week but don't you worry exploring Windows to the Universe, but beware this site is very graphic intensive.

Well I have to get out of here since my computer is acting so flaky tonight, just a minute, it's recovered . Paul Chamberlain has some neat tornado pictures that he took himself on his site. You can see a sample to the left of this paragraph.
