Cars sites that you're gonna like

Well, I just got back from the Canadian National Exhibition with my kids and their grandparents. While we were there we saw an exhibit called The Car of the Century. This exhibit consists of 100 cars that were picked as being the most influential in the development of the automobile so this week I thought I'd concentrate on cars with a few other modes of transportation thrown in.

One really neat and informative site I came across was the Henry Ford Museum. Not only does it highlight transportation and invention you can also tour Greenfield Village for a very good explanation of what they're all about. Check out their about us page. Don't miss their SmartFun Online page which is designed especially for educators and kids. This site has one of the better uses of image maps I've seen.

Another good museum site that specializes in cars in the BlackHawk Museum. Many car museums have web pages. This is one museum that has made their web pages just more than directions, hours and admission prices. A selection of the cars and art from their collection is showcased for you to explore if you can't make it to Danville California.

The Ford Historical Archive site also has some interesting information about the history and vehicles of the Ford Motor Company. Don't neglect the Jaguar section. This area has lots of neat colour pictures, though they are a bit small.

Walker Transportation Collection specializes in vehicles of New England. Cars, ships, buses, airplanes and more are featured at this site, which has lots of pictures and extensive links list to other transportation sites.

The Newton's Apple web site has an experiment you can do that helps explain how a car's engine works.

Finally I have one last car site. Xeo.com has a neat little car racing applet that lets you test your racing skills.

Well, it's time for me to go to bed. If you need some more kid-friendly links, don't miss some of my past articles and you can always drop in on Kids on Suite101. This page gives you pointers to other kid-friendly topics and links on Suite 101. This week's image is from http://www.geocities.com/SoHo/Cafe/4367/... By the way, if you think the car looks a little squished, you're right. I'm going to fix it tonight.
