Karaoke Contests

Other contests are judged by a panel of "experts" chosen by the kj. While this may seem more ethical, these judges are often close, personal friends of the contestants. This is hard to avoid, since hard-core karaoke contestants, like those in the movie Duets, tend to travel in packs.

This is not to say that all contests are bad. In fact, the "Gimme the Mic!" contest is not even technically karaoke. In all honesty, if I was more practiced, I might even have considered entering. Really, how hard can it be to sing a capella for 90 seconds?
