I find it not so amazing that legends of Mary Magdalene as consort or wife of Jesus have existed through the ages, though often in the shadows and secret traditions, and find the idea that she may indeed be associated with the black madonnas across Europe intriguing in an archetypal sense. If it was time for God to become incarnate in order to relate better to mankind, would not his hieros gamos with the embodiment of instinct and pure earthly mortal represent the most significant elevation and recognition of the devalued feminine.
