PersonalReader's Media ReaderJim Romenesko's popular MediaNews (http://www.medianews.com) may soon have a new neighbor in your bookmarks -- another well-done round-up of journalism news, put together by two Seattle Times alumni. The site is called PersonalReader.com, and you can find it, easily enough, at http://www.personalreader.com. Five days a week, Mark Matassa and Danny Westneat provide lively summaries of and links to some of the best journalism-related stories on the Web. You'll find items at PersonalReader.com you may not encounter elsewhere, including Romenesko's hit-a-plenty site at the Poynter Institute. PR tends to be a little less gossipy, a little less focused on who-screwed-up-today than MediaNews, although you'll get some of that at PR too. PR's Media Reader also include links to journalism-related Web sites (Romenesko resides at the top) as well as a handy list of links to more than a dozen of the nation's biggest papers. In addition to those standing features, be sure to check out the links gathered for a recent Northwest Writers' Workshop. This section highlights examples of good reporting on the Web and offers an expanded version of useful journalism links. I spotted a number of sites I haven't seen elsewhere. And if you're looking for more news, click on the link to PR's World Reader. There, you'll find a digest of world news and a lengthy list of foreign news sources.
