Charity Events
Organized charity events are usually a safe and inexpensive way to take a long distance cruise on your jet ski. They provide you with the means to enjoy the ultimate jet ski experience, while at the same time creating greater awareness of the positive aspects of personal watercraft. Most events require only a small donation, and the riders are supported by crews which organize food, carry extra fuel and clothing and arrange accommodations for the riders, as well as providing any mechanical assistance needed for the watercrafts. You don't even have to own your own jet ski. Most charity organizations can assist you in renting a jet ski.
The Tennessee River 600 took place from June 13-18. It was a week-long, 600-mile journey along the scenic Tennessee River. Each rider donated $20, and all proceeds went to the PWC safety programs in Tennessee. A four-man, world record expedition dubbed the 'WaveVenture of the Americas 1997' is currently undertaking an unprecedented 10,000-mile journey through 14 states, 8 countries and 4 time zones on personal watercrafts sponsored by the Yamaha Corporation. The trip will raise money for "Feed the Children" and will attempt to break the world record for the longest distance traveled on a PWC. At the end of August, Ski for a Cure will raise money to help children and young adults who suffer from Leukemia, when 8 riders take a 12-day ride down the east coast of Queensland from Port Douglas to SeaWorld on the Gold Coast.
Jet Ski Tours
Many events are sponsored by PWC manufacturers to promote their machines or tour companies who will plan a jet ski adventure for you and your group. You can also just pack your tent and head out onto the waves on your own.
