Bits and Pieces: assorted travel news you might be able to use

For cheap, no-frills fares from England to all parts of Europe, visit the web sites of Ryan Air and GO airlines: http://www.ryanair.com and http://www.go-fly.com/index.html . A quick example: if you want to fly from London to Venice on April 4, 2000, returning ten days later on April 14, this will cost you 83 pounds on GO, or 64 pounds on Ryan Air (all depending on availability, of course), and anywhere from 149 to 300 British Pounds on Lufthansa, British Airways, Air France, KLM, or Alitalia. (All numbers are for one adult round-trip fare, and are based on a quick search through http://www.travelocity.com and http://expedia.msn.com - certainly not a scientific or exhaustive survey!)

If you know of any good "undiscovered" sites on Mediterranean travel, please let me know - I'm always looking for new information. And, if you have any money-saving hints for either first-time or more seasoned Mediterranean visitors, please start a discussion thread below, or just send your hints along to me by email.

Best wishes for the new year, century, and millennium! Here's hoping that everyone who reads this gets the Mediterranean holiday of his or her dreams in the coming year.
