US Military Records

One caveat: there are quite a few fee-based military search services online. Be careful with anything on the Internet, CD ROM, or even in a book. Whenever a record is transcribed from one source to another, there is the potential for error. Quite a few people have a very hard time reading old scripts... especially judging from the spelling in some of the transcriptions I've received! Try to obtain copies of the original source whenever you can. The Access Genealogy website I mentioned above does tell how to request these copies.
