More on Genealogy.com

Sorry for taking so long in-between articles. I recently started a full time job. My days are very full. I've been having trouble getting out my articles. You can look forward to another article in a few days and then a monthly article.

I've reviewed GenealogyLibrary.com before. http://www.suite101.com/article.cfm/6114... . Recently though I expanded my subscription to include several of their sites. One of them is Genealogy.com. So here's the story!

I got a call one day from one of the folks at Genealogy.com. I have to say that this person was very helpful in setting up my on-line library. She helped me sort through what the site had that would help me in my research. Since then I have to say I've been fully impressed. Each time that I go to the site I find more offerings that befuddle the mind.

Today I'm going through the World Family Tree On-line. It is a set of 68 data volumes as of this date. They cover the dates pre-1600's to the present. MASSIVE amounts of data are in this one offering.

On Volume one are 5957 family trees that you can search through and download to your computer. The site software is Family Tree Maker and you can view the archives with Family Tree Maker or the Family Tree Viewer which is a free download.

Each family tree has a discription for you to look through. Here's a discription from one of the trees:

Tree #5313, Terrell, Hamilton, Richie of KY, IN 1808-1990:

56 individuals 1 individual(s) with More About information Other features of this tree:

Date range: 1808-1990 Some early dates: 1808, 1816, 1820, 1823, 1828 Most common surnames: Terrell, Hamilton, Richie, Sheppard Most common locations: KY, IN Foreign locations: This tree is also available on CD-ROM.

There is so much on this site that it would take several articles to cover. The amazing thing is that you can buy the CD's or you can just pay for access to the site. I have to say that the sales lady was very careful to offer me CD's that aren't available on-line with subscription. She was very helpful and did tell me that if I had any trouble finding anything that their tech support would clarify and help me find my way. It is a HUGE site.

Genealogy.com is a wonderful service. Yes, there are loads of Irish records there. It's well worth the price tag and you certainly will not go wrong with it. You really should take advantage of their sale prices and get hooked up for a great adventure.
