If your family is from Kerry this is a site you should regularly visit. If your family isn't from Kerry but you do a webpage on your family tree or any other genealogy topic you should definitely take a gander at County Kerry's Website. It's jam packed with great information and has some rather unique things too take a look at.
To start off it's a site that's nice to be at. It's pleasing to look at and fun to browse around. Not a professionally done slick site like Ancestry or some of those but what's contained within the site is beyond belief.
Telephone Help is a very useful and unique thing. For a small charge you can call and get on the spot help and it helps pay for the cost of the site. The webmaster has a lot of wonderful tools to help you out and she's a lovely person as well. I've had some exchanges with her in the past.
There is a message board, a mailing list, and a group record project. You can post your own family tree on the site for other Kerry researchers. All of these things are quite useful and if you don't use them you'd better get going with it. The chances of you finding information with these folks is quite good.
The starting out area is awesome if you are beginning Kerry research or if you have been doing it a while. You are bound to find some new information on the page. I must say though, that you will be astounded at the work that's being done with their on-line records. Census records, Tithes Applotment Data, Griffiths, Casey collection, Flax Spinners records, and on, and on...! I count today over sixty links on that page including the Jennie Johnson passenger lists.
There is History, Culture, maps, resources, townlands and more. It simply boggles the mind! There's everything from Famine in Kerry to Place name meanings. The Links page is worth a look as well.
This site is going to do nothing but grow and deserves all the help we can give it.
