Chat Irish Genealogy

Shortly here, at Suite101, you can look forward to a weekly chat session for Irish Genealogy. It will help me get to know all of my site visitors and you can have direct input into this area of Suite101. I'd love to know what you are having problems with and what topics you'd like to see appear on these pages.

Each week I'm hoping to have an expert on Irish Genealogy come to SuiteChat and answer your questions. What you will get is expertise and a chance to win a drawing for an Irish Genealogy book. All you need do is be a chat participant to win the drawing. The more you attend the better your chances. So keep track of this site and I'll keep you posted on how that is all coming along.

You can learn a lot from the experts, and from one another, in the chat areas set up for Irish Genealogy. I encourage you to seek these services out. They are all free. If you are new to chatting you can visit a page I've set up to help you get started. http://www.suite101.com/mypage.cfm/Etain...

There are currently Irish genealogy chat rooms up and running at various sites on the net. No need to wait on me. Some even have regularly scheduled meetings where you can speak to an expert in Irish Genealogy.

A EXCELLENT site is Vocal Ireland's Family History Chat. Family History Chat is live every Monday at 11 am EST and 4 pm Irish time, join Local Ireland genealogist Francis Dowling. They use DigiChat like here at SuiteChat. It's open any time-- any day for chatting on Irish Genealogy. Make certain you take a look around their message boards as well. The whole site is incredible. http://www.vocal.local.ie/digichat.html

There's also the Cormican Chat pages. I've yet to access it but it seems like a good resource. They too have a message board and a regular Irish chat area besides the Genealogy chat. http://www.cormican.com/newirish/genealo...

Then there's IrishChat. They cater to Irish topics and Irish Genealogy. There is a message board there and with a little bit of research you can find the dates and times everyone gets together. http://www.irishchat.net/

You can find several IRC listings for Irish Genealogy chat at Cindi's List: chat and IRC page as well as various topics on Genealogy chat channels and sites. http://www.cyndislist.com/chat.htm

There's a good index of genealogy chats of all kinds at Wilibrord's Genealogy Chat Sites. I thought this was kind of impressive actually. http://members.tripod.com/~Erala/genealo...
