Linda Windsor, author of the Fires of Gleannmara Series of which I did a review of book two, Riona in the last article, kindly gave me the following interview.

LBL: How long have you been writing?

LWindsor: I dabbled with historical romances in the mid seventies, but didn't try seriously until the late eighties. My first book (written in the 70's and re-written in '87) was published in 1990. I sold 15 historical romances to Kensington's Zebra and Pinnacle Books as LInda Windsor and LInda Covington, as well as a contemporary romance to the Meteor/Kismet Romance line. My first inspirational romance, HI HONEY I'M HOME came out in 1999.

LBL: Do you only write historical romance? If not, what other kinds of books do you write?

LWindsor: I also write inspirational romantic comedy. After all, when the love bug bites, it can infect the most serious of hearts in the funniest ways. And, as my historicals provide an avenue for my passionate love of history, the romcoms are an outlet for my wacky sense of humor.

LBL: What was your first book?

LWindsor: Aside from the title, it was a pretty good book. PIRATE'S WILD EMBRACE was a 17th. century swashbuckler that traveled with my sword-swinging heroine from the little known pirate stronghold of Madagascar to England.

LBL: Where do you get the ideas for your books?

LWindsor: Primarily research. I pick a time period I'm interested in and create characters, based on research, that would have existed then. Since I write romance, naturally it's a given that they are going to fall in love...eventually.

LBL: Which is your favorite? Any in particular, or whichever one you happen to be working on at the time?

LWindsor: To date, my FIRES OF GLEANNMARA series books are my favorites. I have to say all three of them because they all treated me not only to the fascinating history of my Irish roots, but of my faith as well. I was spellbound by the evangel of the early Christian church and how God used the Irish to preserve civilization during the Dark Ages as an early America.

LBL: What is your biggest challenge in writing?

LWindsor: Time. There are always things vying for my time, such as my bread and butter consulting business, my family, my church, my music ministry, etc. While I discipline myself to put in at least 4 hours at the computer each week day, other distractions do not always make them productive hours. Naturally, then I have to infringe on the time set aside for other obligations.
