War with Iraq: Leave or Stay and Finish the Job?

It was asked in our discussion forum: "When did SH (Saddam Hussein) declare war on or attack the United States? How come we haven't attacked North Korea, or Syria, or Iran, or any of half a dozen African states, such as the Sudan and Somalia, where genocide and worse is ongoing? Or, are they next? Think we should return to Viet Nam and finish them off?
You think Brent Scowcroft and Bush I are pansies for not finishing off SH and for strongly advising against attacking SH (thereby handing two-thirds of Iraq over to Iran on a silver platter and with no expenditure of Iranian blood- with the rest going to al Qaeda, SH's bitterest enemy)? P.S. How come we never hear any more about those WMDs or about OBL?

This has been a lively debate in our War with Iraq discussion forum where there are currently 680 posts on this topic. Below is my reply to that question. I invite you to read it and join in the discussion with your thoughts.

I am replying knowing full well I will not change your mind. You wrote:

In case you missed that history lesson, Japan attacked the United States on 7 December 1941 and Hitler declared war on the United States on 11 December 1941 and German U-boats were sinking American ships off the East Coast within days of that declaration of war, so they must have been waiting for it.

When did SH declare war on or attack the United States?

Saddam invaded an ally and Bush I chased him out in Gulf War I. Saddam Hussein surrendered and had conditions to meet so coalition forces would not take his country, Iraq. He violated this surrender agreement many times so we went in and enforced it by removing him from power.

The people who attacked us on 9/11/01 or cheered that attack after the fact, now had an easy target in Iraq for their hatred.

Although he didn't physically attack our allies after his surrender, he was caught paying people to attack Israel, another of our important allies. If we didn't put a stop to it, Israel would only have one option available and that would have left the oil fields radioactive for all the World.

How come we haven't attacked North Korea, or Syria, or Iran, or any of half a dozen African states, such as the Sudan and Somalia, where genocide and worse is ongoing?
