May we be stalwart in adversity, unflinching in face of antagonism and harassment in the endeavor to love our neighbor as ourselves, to protect those who are persecuted, defend those unjustly accused, give aid to those in need.
Let us eschew false rumors, and not take sides with the mighty to do what is wrong, regardless of the pressure that is imposed on our lives. Grant, that we have mercy and compassion on those who suffer hardship and calamities beyond their control; the conscience to return the wandering ox to our enemy and to leave the corners of the fields for the poor. Give us the mindfulness to relieve the burdens from the fallen ass, and if necessary to take those burdens upon our own backs and walk the distance with our enemy, learning of the difficulties and setbacks that he faces and the despair that lays within his heart. Grant us, the gift of building bridges and creating new paths of thoroghfares for the communication among your people. Do not let us turn aside when we see the persecution of our neighbor, the slaughter of genocide within our country's borders and the hear the footsteps and knocks upon our neighbor's door. Grant us the courage to speak out against all injustice that befalls on those within our neighborhoods and communities. All too often we step over the beggar on the street and ignore the degradation of sacred life among the poor.
Hear the cry of the poor and the anguish within our hearts.
