Many folks know the blockbuster movie, the
Matrix, for its revolutionary camera technique. They awed at the action sequences and marveled at the wonders of the "real world". Yet, many may not have picked up on the subtle sociological statements that were being made by the movie. Among the more easily distinguished: Technology inherits the Earth; Man vs. Machine; Reality is What We Make of It.
But what I found most curious was the portrayal of women's role in technology. Near the beginning of the movie, the main character encounters a world-renowned hacker by the code name of Trinity. To his surprise, Trinity is a woman. With an almost too casual smile, Trinity responds, "Many men think that way."
