Beware Of The Net

So you finally got the net connection you were vying for. The unlimited world of information, entertainment, communication and a bit of eroticism is finally within your reach. Doesn't it feel great? So what do you do now? Go on, chat with anyone, get tons of e-mail address( God knows why people do that, I myself have 14), install ICQ, keep in touch with friends both far and near. But spare a thought for this article. And spare a thought for yourself.

The net was originally formulated as an extension to the US Military. Naturally, security was a prime concern. But as the Internet gradually extended its reach from hundreds to thousands, to millions and so on, security got sidetracked. Content, jazziness and popularity were the areas people concentrate on. With the advents of the World Wide Web(WWW) in late 90's, things got a move on. Soon the being online was the 'In' thing. Everyone got a modem and got online. Things people never imagined started to happen.

Human behaviour forms an important aspect for a Psychologist. Now you will say why are you changing the topic. There is a reason. Anyway, the human attitude is to highlight a fault of others, thus bringing popularity to himself. This was the root cause for emmergence of a new clan on the internet, which soon developed into a huge community, the HACKING COMMUNITY.

Hackers are inflamed by curiosity. By definition they are skilled computer experts who are driven to learn more. From this stems the hacker belief that information should be available to all. This is one of the reasons that hackers break into computer systems. For them, a computers security system is an obstacle that prevents them from having access to the information that they need.

Essentially, most hackers are intelligent computer users who follow a certain code of ethics that says a hacker should never harm the system they break into. We also have crackers who have malicious intentions. They break into systems for wrecking them or for profiteering from the information gained.

I am here to guide your way in this exciting journey. I won't tell you what to see, I will tell you how to see so that what you see is for your eyes only. I will try to inform you so that you are not made a target by the unscruplous members of this world wide club. To discuss all security aspects is not possible in one session. So keep in touch. Will see you soon.
