Flips or icoins?

At the beginning of this month I wrote about iwin.com and Uproar.com. These two sites, in addition to the ones I will cover in this article, Amused.com, Flipside.com, and Virtual Vegas are all part of the same Uproar network. When I wrote the May 1 article I was thought that I was going to have something different to say about Flipside.combut since the merger with Uproar.com, there isn’t anything new that I can point out. The site is incredibly similar now to Uproar.com and iwin.com. I don’t understand why they exist as three separate entities but I’m sure there’s some internet business plan logic behind it.

So I’ll start with Amused.com. To me, this is a site for people who like to waste their internet time by reading. Since I am a “play-to-win” kind of person (hay, my time-wasting may pay off some day), this really is not a site for me. BUT someone out there may enjoy this kind of stuff so here’s the low-down on what you will find there:

Here are some samples from the “Amusements” category:

“Got Underpants?” - this is kind of funny. Take your favorite phrase and substitute one word with “underpants”. (i.e. A penny for your underpants.. Comments posted a la bulletin board style.

“You Call This a Present?” - Visitors tell the world the worst present they ever got.

“Shockwave Silliness” - All kinds of mini-shockwave amusements can be found here. I took the “Love Machine” test to see who I was most compatible with and after seeing the results, have decided to hide in my house FOREVER! You will also find here a “Random Excuse Machine”, “Papal Bowling”(a spin-off of my favorite game, “Elf Bowling”), and just about anything else shockwave related. I just don’t feel like writing about all of them. I am Gen-TW ok?

You can also “Help Sparky Find His Bone”. I got suckered into playing because if you find the bone, you get entered into their monthly drawing for a prize. This game is best for those with a lot of patience.

Here are some samples from the “Classics” category: “Internet Parking Notice” - this actually is a good thing to send to friends who spend too much time on the net. Of course I can’t send any out because that would be pure hypocrisy.

“Pass It On” - Sick of always being on the receiving end of useless emails? You know, ones like “Try This It Really Works!” or “This is a TRUE STORY”? Well, here’s your chance to waste your friend’s time with email that they haven’t seen yet. If you are lucky, they will forget that you were the originator of the message and will send it back to you. What fun!
