May's Monthly Muses

This month I have found sites that will amuse the little ones, adults, and everyone else (name your category here).

First up, "Sights that will make you cringe and your kid laugh".

I have to admit, these days my life is based on anything that will make a 2-year-old calm and happy. Since I spend too much time on the computer, my little one is always trying to find ways to keep me from using it. So this month I thought I'd find a couple of sites that we could enjoy together. (Call it computer "quality time".)

The most recent amusement for my child is the "Whassup" site. Ever since we saw the commercial we have been working on a special performance for visitors who come to our house. As soon as they step in the door I get him to greet them with his various renditions of "Whassup!" In turn, our guests shake their heads and tell me I need to get out of the house more often. Sad but true.

Whether you have kids or not, visit this site to either satisfy a "whassup" craving or to teach your kids a new greeting!

This next site has a joke on it that you may or may not have to explain to your kids. It's called "Laughing Newborn". Listen to it for a bit and tell me that you don't think the laugh is contagious. I'm laughing right now as I write this. I think the kids will too. (And the joke is cute.)

Now here is another site that I know makes quite a few people cringe. But my son likes it and I enjoy it (for a little while anyway). It's hamsterdance.com and unfortunately right now the hamsters are on vacation. So right now there are links to other "nutty" sites that are ok to look at but don't quite have the charm of the hamsters. For all of you who hate the hamster dance, I do have a link to the anti-hamsterdance site which I can send to you. Just send me your email and the link is yours! (NOTE TO ADULTS: If you want to a dose of ironic hamster humor, click on this link when the little ones aren't around.)

This next site is for those who want to learn a little more about themselves. Some things you can discover are: "Are You Sure You're You?"(Kind of), "What breed of dog are you?" (It said I'm a PUG but I know I'm a beagle), "What's your superpower?" (I'm an ANIMAL COMMUNICATOR! Watch as your pet gets nervous while you read this.) The answers to these and more can be found at emode.com. Be sure to register at the site so you can get the full results of your tests.
