Offline Games for ThanksgivingThe leaves are changing color, Halloween is over, and it's getting colder outside (if you live in the northern hemisphere of course). In a couple of weeks we will soon be celebrating Thanksgiving!! This means turkey and pumpkin pie and getting together with the family! It also means a lack of fun online entertainment sites related to this holiday. Sigh. Originally I had hoped to point you in the direction of some sites that had some onling Thanksgiving games. However, like a smart turkey, these kinds of sites are hard to find. So this week what I decided to do was show you a couple that have a few Thanksgiving related online games (mostly for kids), and others that will give you some ideas about what kind of games to play offline. I figure this is a sign that we should all get out of our computer chairs and work up an appetite for that great big T-Day dinner! BUT be sure to come back in two weeks (November 23, 1999). I'll tell you about a site that will give you one last chance to spend time with your hard earned cash before you go out on your "After Thanksgiving" shopping sprees. Drumroll please.....and now, offline fun from the Internet Playground: http://www.kaplan.com/holiday/turkey.html - "Kaplan's New Spin on Thanksgiving". Download their "Spin the Turkey" game, enter an essay contest to win a can of cranberry sauce, a box of instant stuffing, a turkey centerpiece and a book or software from Kaplan's online store. http://billybear4kids.com/holidays/thank... - "Billy Bear's Happy Thanksgiving" and http://www.huddlenet.com/graphics/thanks... from huddlenet are sites with online games geared towards the kiddies. The little ones can play Tic-Tac-Toe, Slide Puzzles, a Word Search, and a Turkey in the Straw game (Billy Bear's site only). http://rats2u.com/thanksgiving/thanksgiv... - This is a great site with TONS of Thanksgiving links. Here you can get T-Day midi's, screen savers, send virtual T-Day cards, and even send a virtual meal postcard. Check this site for even more information. http://www.benjerry.com/thanksgiving/ind... - "Ben & Jerry's Thanksgiving". No they don't have turkey ice cream here (thank God) but they do have all kinds of good information about Thanksgiving history, arts & crafts, games, and of course, food links. http://family.go.com/Features/family_199... - From Family.com, here are a list of games that you can play with your family and friends when you aren't wasting time on the computer. http://www.night.net/thanksgiving/games1... - From the "Not Just for Kids!" site. This describes how to play some quiet games (great if the adults have a headache!), some noisy games, and some outdoor games. Great for kids of all ages.
