It is the dead of night and you are standing in front of the old, dark mansion. Lightening illuminates the dark sky and highlights the monstrosity before you. You hear a voice inside your head telling you to run away but you are weak and cannot resist the temptation of the house. You climb up the rotten wooden stairs and step onto the sagging porch. You are about to try the doorknob when you notice that a window to your right is already open. What do you do?

Not sure what to do next? Need a little practice before you make the great leap to a real haunted house? Well, I don't think I can help you there BUT I did find some links for a few virtual haunted houses that should help you kill some time on the net this month. Read on!

Interkinetic's Online Haunted House. This is one pretty cool interactive site. (You will need Macromedia Flash to play at this site.) It's not so much on the creepy side but the effects are fun. Take note: it takes a little longer than other sites to load. You have to wait until the animations get moving before you can do anything.

Caverns of Blood's Halloween Haunted House. This a pretty simple but fun site to visit.

The Bonegarden Estate. This site has very cool graphics and sounds. The objective is to search rooms but some points lead to sound files or other sites. I have not figured out what the final result is (if there is one).

The Haunted Castle. This site has really beautiful graphics. Scroll to the bottom of this page and click on the "can you solve the mystery".

Nighthawk's Haunted House. This one is not as graphic intensive and loads a little quicker than others. Another one of those "make a choice and see where it takes you" sites.

Escape from Tasmanian Devilette's Virtual Haunted Mansion. Here you will find cool spooky graphics and sounds. The goal is to find a way out.

Jacquie's Virtual Haunted House. Another one where you get to make choices about how the story will progress.

Grymm Manor. I think this is just a place to tour and visit other Halloween related sites but I liked the graphics so I included it!
