"He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion" -- Unknown

In honor of Suite101's Pet Parade event, I thought that I would introduce you to a really useful animal site. It's not typical of the Internet Playground sites that we have already discussed because it doesn't have any games, puzzles or prizes. But what it does have is really useful and fun information for all of you pet lovers out there.

This week we are going to visit The Dog Hause. This site, created by webmaster Holly Burns, has everything you'll need to spread a little animal cheer to your cyber-friends all over the world. Why is this site so great? What makes it "Internet Playground" worthy? Well, first, I am the master of the Internet Playground so I get to decide what happens here. Second, it's a great one-stop shop for things such as animal sounds, animal clip art, and animal fonts!!! (All are freeware or shareware). There are message boards here too.

Have you been looking for a quote for your email's sig line? The above quote came from the "Animal Quotes & Proverbs" section. This is a great place to start. Did you know that a cat has four rows of whiskers? (Run and check now!) Well I didn't either! You can get more interesting animal tidbits from the "Fun Facts" pages.

The best section that everyone should visit is called "Spay/Neuter". As an animal lover, and member of a local animal protection society, I think it's important that we spread the word about why it's important to spay/neuter your animals. There are already too many homeless/unwanted animals out there.

Speaking of unwanted animals, let me tell you the story of my Sadie beagle. Earlier this year, I received a call from a local vet's office telling me about a sweet old beagle who had been dropped off to be euthanized because her owners didn't want her anymore. "She's so sweet!" said the vet tech. "Can you help find her a home?" I had no intention of bringing this dog home since I already have two but when I saw her face, I knew I had to help. And now, after my dogs have accepted her into the pack, Sadie has a home with us.
