Killer Bean 2 Is the Best 2000 Internet Movie

Killer Bean 2: The Party is an animated webfilm which has been voted by IFilm (http://www.ifilm.com) as Year 2000’s best, and here’s your chance to find out why. Produced by Jeffrey Lew, the short film runs for about 7.21 minutes. It took Lew three years to finish this work on his home PC, using whatever time he has left from work. The story line is about a reclusive bean that gets roused from sleep by a neighbor’s excessive partying and non-stop disco music. Not that this bean is a prude, it’s just that he wants to get a good night’s sleep.

What happens next is non-stop action reminiscent of John Woo’s The Killers with a bit of The Matrix special effects. To date, some 787,542 people have seen the film without paying a cent. All you have to do to watch it is go visit the IFilm web site. Wait: I have to give you some warning on that. It’s not really all you have to do. The fact is, when it comes down to watching this film or any other Internet Movie at IFilm, you have to sign up to be a member first, and then you have to download the proper viewer (you have a choice among RealPlayer, Quick Time Player, or Microsoft Media Player).

The quickest way to do this is to use Microsoft Internet Explorer in the download process. If you try to use Netscape (don’t say I didn’t warn you), it will tell you that you have to download some plug in which Netscape does not identify so you somehow feel lost. And when you do get into the right plug in, it will tell you that you have to shell out $29.95 from your credit card (highway robbery, these stuffs are supposed to be free!). I am referring of course to that plug-in called Fastview, which seems to be in cahoots with Netscape—so be careful. I always had a great respect for Netscape until this happened.

Of course, I got to give you the link to the movie so here it is: http://www.ifilm.com/ifilm/skeletons/fil...

The overall viewer rating for this film is 8.79, which is quite good. Of course, it will help if your PC has a lot of memory and a top-of-the-line video card. That way, the scenes won’t seem to vanish when the movie runs too fast. In fact, if you have a slow PC, you can mistake some vanishing acts for intended special effects, which they are not.
