Astronauts on Internet Movies

If you dig movies like Mission to Mars or The Red Planet, you might take a little liking for this one. The reason I said little liking specifically is that the film we are talking about is less than 15 minutes. Now you might say, "I don't care about films that are as short as that or shorter!"

But come to think of it, it saves you a lot of time. Instead of watching a movie that beats around the bush for an hour and a half and then tells you everything in the last thirty minutes--Internet Movies are a time-saving device. It saves you money, too since you don't have to shell say $10 to watch the movie. It's free!

Now the astronaut film I am talking about comes from http://www.filmfilm.com, and it's titled "Reflections in Amber," or "Reflejo en Ambar" in Spanish. By now you get the idea that probably some sexy Spanish guy did this film and you're right. The director and writer is Raul Diez Rodriguez, and the producer is Paco Gisbert Pico. The film was produced in Spain, but since it's a silent film, you won't feel the need for subtitles.

Indeed, the makers seem to believe that since they're talking about a universal subject here, then it's easy for people to understand whatever it is they are trying to convey. The fact is, they're wrong!

Let's start out with their premise. Here goes: "A being who appears to be an astronaut is locked in a cell. Time doesn't pass by him. After several unsuccessful attempts at an escape, he feels powerless. In his frustration, an amber tear shows him a possible way out."

I watched the film twice to try to understand what the amber tear stood for, but didn't have a clue. Maybe the way out for the astronaut is through the sandy ground where the amber tear fell-I don't know.

But you lovers of puzzles, you figure it out. Maybe I am wrong. The good thing about Internet Movies is that they are free to explore any genre and present any idea, however incomprehensible or ludicrous--never mind the box office part. To watch the film, just go to the FilmFilm site I mentioned earlier.

And when you have time, drop me a line or two to let me know what you think. I'd love to be educated on films as well. Who knows what terrific ideas may come! Talk to you soon.
