Star Wars Online and That Netscape Internet Movies MenuI still can't get over this one. First of all, and due perhaps to the growing popularity of Internet movies, Netscape now has a special section on "Internet Movies" when you click the Movies section of the Netscape homepage. Netscape defines Internet Movies as "short movies made just for the Net," and rightfully so. If you can't wait to watch the latest Internet-grown and incubated films, just go to this link: http://moviefone.netscape.com/pageboy5.c... The Netscape site entices you further with the come-on "No tickets and the show is always on!" Amazing how Internet Movies are catching fire. Looks like the only problem now is how to get the popcorn out on the Net. The other reason why I am so excited is finding a safe and exciting haven on the Net just for Star Wars fans and with the Internet Movies twist. One day, not a long, long time ago, somebody thought of making improvisations on the Star Wars story by taking it to the Net-and the rest is history. This makes the Star Wars story mutate weekly if not daily into a myriad of forms more complicated than the X-Men genetic code. One such exciting twist is the way Director Rich Cando utilized Flash 4.0 animation to recreate the Empire Strikes Back saga. This is certainly a pioneering work that will trigger a thousand copycats. But that's okay. Let's see how they can get away with it. Imagine utilizing the Flash software to relive the saga from beginning to end. That means the end to RealPlayer, or Media Player -because you don't need to open up these players to view the movie. If you have downloaded Flash, it's all you need and the film unfolds before your very eyes on your favorite browser-no new pop-up screen. This saves a lot of trouble when your PC is slow-and it always will be. The even funnier thing about "Star Dudes: Return of the Dude" is its overall Beavies and Butthead look and feel-faithful to the very end. My only hope is that it should have strayed a little bit from the Empire storyline with a few innovations. I guess it was a little bit too faithful-as if afraid that Uncle George is looking! Why, even if he is, he will certainly like what he sees-considering it's taking him too long to finish Episode II. So while we wait, Star Wars fans this is all we can do. Don't forget to watch the trailer, too. It's every bit as funny as the actual movie which is under five minutes in running time. Too busy? What's five minutes anyway. This is certainly the best alternative to going out and watching a movie-when you just don't have the time.
