I'm Gonna Tell You Where To Go!I mean that in a GOOD way, of course. Hopefully, these are places you'd like to go. They are the sources I use for lots of different things. But all having to do with things graphical or otherwise Web-related. First, I have another confession to make. I use Paint Shop Pro almost exclusively to do my graphics work. I have for several years. I helped test their newest version, via their feedback system and free beta offerings. Make a long story short...they gave me a copy of the Version 5.0 release, including documentation, on my very own CD. Nothing was asked for in return, but I figure I owe them...and you...some explanation. Even though I now have the version for purchase, the shareware version is still out there. You can get it, and use it to your heart's content.
We NEED another new word...yeah, right. There's a word for the category of software into which Paint Shop Pro now falls. It's "prosumer software." Ideal for those of us with more than the average consumer's skill, yet less than an expert's...perhaps. We know how to drive this "category" of software better than most, but there's still some other package faster on the draw out there...somewhere. Paint Shop Pro is a true "prosumer" type of software package. It offers Joe and Jill Wannabe the chance to work with tools that are only slightly less than totally fantastic! Still very impressive, and so powerful that it takes a "real" pro to detect the difference, but it'll take a close look. And Paint Shop Pro ain't the only type of prosumer software out there. You don't have to have the $800 package. You don't have to spend a thousand dollars to put together a totally compatible system of image capture, manipulation and publication, with a desktop publishing capability that creates your web pages. It ALWAYS comes down to the money. In other words...we can publish ALL our files to the Web on the cheap! We can create very professional looking web pages, including multimedia and animations with just a few basic tools. Strap on your TOOL Belt. Maybe we should define "tools." It's actually another word for "applications." Which is another word for "computer programs." See, the further we get from the word "computer," the easier it is to understand the function of what we're using. In this case, our "tool" is Paint Shop Pro. It's an application that runs on yours and my home computers. We create and manipulate images with this tool.
