Buying Domain Names in GroupsWhat's the alternative? If you didn't register a certain domain, and someone else used it and were in the same industry as you, they could be infringing your trademark. Again, this is a sensitive area with a lot of variables, so I can't say it's always a certain way. But hypothetically, if you were ReignYourDomain.org for 3 years and someone came along and started ReignYourDomain.com, they could be infringing your trademark. People might go to ReignYourDomain.com thinking that it was you or was a site associated or connected to you. This means you would have to embark on some sort of battle to buy that name, legally wrangle that name back, or some other resolution. Most take time and money, especially if the other party doesn't want to sell or doesn't think they are doing anything wrong. This is why buying a larger set of domains than you may have considered could be a good "ounce of prevention" idea. Again, you don't have to go bonkers with TLDs and variations. Think about your budget first: how much money would you like to spend each year for the confidence that you have done your best to "sew up" your identity? A few hundred dollars or less? A few thousand dollars? What do your marketing or website expert consultants tell you? What does your gut tell you! What if some of the names I want for my set are taken?
