Catastrophy and Generosity

The outpouring of funds and aid to respond to the tsunamis that struck south Asia is substantial. Surveys indicate 29% of Americans and 38% of Europeans contributed to relief programs. Because many kinds of disasters are a constant risk, human services agencies take the lead to help meet basic needs in dire conditions. Here is a list of US-based international aid agencies, addresses, and Internet links. The Associated Press compiled this information. Donors to any charity should investigate its purpose and its administrative costs before contributing to it. Save this list in advance of the next disaster.
