Slow cooling

Progress in addressing the climate change challenge has been slow and haphazard. Feet's dragging has been the actual policy of several developed countries and compromises on original commitments have eroded what could have been substantial gains in reducing global greenhouse emissions. Still, the comprimes reached in Morocco are "better than nothing" and can certainly provide a platform for jump-starting more serious action on global warming.

At http://unfccc.int/issues/mar.html the Marrakesh Ministerial Declaration is documented.

Prepared for journalists but of interest and helpful for everyone looking into the details of climate change and global warming, the climate change resource book (109 pages !!) is an important tool

CNA is a Non-Governmental Organization registered in Kenya. CNA has operated since May 1991 and was started as an initiative of a group of Non-governmental Organizations and institutions to lobby and advocate for relevant policy changes on climate change related issues in Africa. It's mission is to improve the chances for environmentally sustainable and socially equitable development in Africa, in light of the serious danger of climate change, ozone depletion and desertification, with a sensitivity to flow of relevant information from the scientific community and NGOs worldwide to NGOs, scientists, policy-makers and the general public in Africa through facilitating cross-sectoral exchange and debate. The role of CNA is to facilitate information exchange and analysis of issues with the aim of strengthening Africa's many voices at local, national and international fora.

Clearly, information and knowledge are at hand; it is now high time to put good policies into concrete practice, starting at home by changing consumption habits and extending to decision-making at the municipal, provincial and federal levels here in Canada.
