Action area #2 - Water

It's no big secret that in affluent societies, water consumption is often ten or more times higher than in developing countries. Of course, millions of people are not able to consume enough clean water every day. On the other hand, that's no excuse to let it flow like there is no tomorrow. There are many ways how you can save water every day without even noticing that you are saving. (3) Make sure the washing machine is full when used, don't water the lawn for hours and simply place half a brick into your toilet tank.

Action area#3 - heating and cooling

Household heating and A/Cs are two major factors contributing to household emissions and energy consumption. By making some adjustments in how warm or cool your home is, you can accomplish a significant reduction of your environmental footprint. Turning the thermostat down 3 or 4 degrees at night or even lower when you are away from home, will lead to considerable energy savings, without compromising that feeling of being warm and cozy. Paying attention to how warm or cool you like it at home can really pay off big time. The money you save can provide a boost for getting some of those overdue upgrades made to your home, which might just help to lift the properties value.

Action area#4 - Power

Anyone can cut on electricity usage with very little, if an inconveniences at any. A small upfront investment is to replace regular light bulbs with energy saving spiral bulbs. Turning down the fridge and freezer a notch and a half also adds up. Make a habit of turning off the lights, when you leave a room and don't leave the TV on when you're off to the kitchen to make dinner. When buying larger appliances like washers and dryers, always check out how much electricity the consume
