Will I be a Sinner if I am Baptized?

The time has come to baptize my youngest son. It is something that my husband and I always agreed upon. But I surprised my self when the minister of the Presbyterian church we are about to join asked if I had decided to be baptized and I said "Yes."

So what if I'm not totally sure that Jesus was really the son of God. My nine-month-old sure as hell isn't either. I think it's OK to believe everything about the Bible and Jesus is symbolic rather than absolute fact. So that's how I can justify that I can be baptized. It's not just because my stomach is going to growl when I see my husband and children eat the bread and drink the wine during communion. In reality it is my soul that is hungry and I'm never going to join a church where I completely believe everything as the true word of God. Heck, I don't see how anyone can. I guess that's what faith is all about. So I'm going to have some faith now.

My decision was also based on my belief that I want to be what my family is. I don't want to be explaining to my kids all the time that I'm not a member because I don't believe everything. If my kids want to change religions or not have any later, fine. In the meantime, we will be going to church as a family.
