I was a little swollen today. Puffy ankles and even my eyelids looked puffy. I suspect sitting for hours at the pageant last night may have contributed to it, as well as not eating enough protein. I covered the countertop with foods high in protein and iron to remind me how I need to be eating. Baby kicked and wiggled a lot today, as usual.

Saw the midwife the other day. Everything checked out really healthy. Baby's heartrate was 144, and the midwife is guessing a boy based on the "gallopy" sound of the heartbeat. I enjoyed the checkup so much. She and I are so like-minded. We talked about the eye ointment and the vitamin K, and it's so nice that we both feel it's unnecessary. She loaned me a book to read that's really good called Special Delivery.

We are about to get everything set up for Baby. My aunt has a bassinet she's going to give me. Another aunt has a little white chest of drawers. And a friend gave me her infant car seat. I've got a sling and some cloth diapers this time too. Baby is still pretty active and I'm starting to have more frequent "practice contractions".

I made a list today of some more supplies to buy for the homebirth. I'm try8ing to get prepared, never know if Baby might come early. Mike got a cell phone the other day, especially so we can keep in touch and be sure he knows when I go into labor.

I've made it past the 36 weeks mark! Now I can have a homebirth if I go into labor. I'm curious whether I'm dilated any. I just wonder how much longer it will be!?!

I've got all my birth supplies ready, as well as the rocker, chest of drawers, and bassinet set up in our bedroom. I would never notice the "nesting instinct" before labor, because I've been "nesting" for months. I want to get everything done and ready, so all I have to do when Baby gets here is bond and take care of him/her.

We've changed names so many time, we might as well wait until Baby is born to tell anyone! We had switched gir's names from Maura Belle to Lily Sophia and now it's Sophie Rose. The current boy's name is Forrest.

I've been so anxious for signs of labor
